Transcript: Welcome to the February 7 issue of Hi5! My name is Reza Mosher. I am thrilled to be your ASL signer today! Here are our Top Five news stories. In the email, click links to learn more about each story.

#1 Get to know the Gallaudet Archives

The Gallaudet Archives has thousands of items, including photos, videos, historical documents, books, and much more. Want to know the most challenging materials to store? Their biggest item? Check out the article to learn those answers, and more, plus meet Director Jim McCarthy!

#2 Faculty and alumni featured in “Dinner Table Syndrome” anthology

Have you ever felt left out at the dinner table? Gallaudet alumnus Raymond Luczak, ’88, has published a new collection of essays, short stories, and poems about Dinner Table Syndrome. The book features 19 different writers who are Deaf and hard of hearing, including four Gallaudet faculty and three alumni!

#3 Men’s basketball team visits Atlanta

The Gallaudet men’s basketball team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia this past December. Between games, they visited Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park and met the students of Atlanta Area School for the Deaf. Go Bison!

#4 Graduate student interns at White House

Last semester, graduate student José Rodrigo Uresti interned at the White House! José is part of Gallaudet’s International Development Masters Program (IDMA). Check out the article to learn about his journey and his time with the White House.

#5 Deaf Studies Incubator welcomes international fellows

The new Deaf Studies Incubator program got off to a great start in the fall. The first two fellows, Naiara Larrakoetxea from Spain and Amelia Palmer from Canada, have immersed themselves in the Gallaudet community. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
