#1 Shoshannah Stern Directs Documentary on Marlee Matlin
A new documentary by Gallaudet alum Shoshannah Stern, ‘05, premiered at Sundance Film Festival last night! Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore is an intimate conversation about the amazing career of Marlee Matlin, H-’87, as a Deaf actor, director, and trailblazer. #2 Gallaudet Archives Assists DPN Documentary
Another documentary, Deaf President Now!, will premiere at Sundance Film Festival on January 28. The Gallaudet Archives provided a trove of materials to the filmmakers for the movie. We interviewed Archives Director Jim McCarthy to learn about the Archives and their involvement with the film. Click the link to read the interview and learn how to watch the movie.
#3 Ronda Jo Miller Donatucci Receives NCAA Award
Ronda Jo Miller Donatucci, '02, received the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award on January 14 for her amazing accomplishments as a Bison. She holds numerous school, conference, and Division III records as both a basketball and volleyball player. Way to go, Ronda Jo!
#4 International Development Program Co-Hosts Summit
On December 12, Gallaudet University’s International Development Master’s (IDMA) Program co-hosted a Disability Inclusion Summit. Graduate student Binta Badjie and IDMA Program Director Dr. Audrey Cooper presented on Deaf leadership in fighting climate change.
#5 Gallaudet Students Featured in Mental Health Documentary
This past September, Gallaudet alum Melissa Elmira Yingst, ‘00, partnered with Seattle Children’s Hospital to make a documentary about four Deaf and hard of hearing teenagers. The film shows their journey from navigating mental health challenges to blossoming at college, including Gallaudet.
