A road trip to Virginia in a search for the first Deaf School in the United States with a formal deaf education (old sign and written English).
This school had old British signs and written English. Many assume school only ran in 1815-1816. There are four locations documented and ended in 1821. Years 1812 to 1821.
This school will always be the first, because three deaf students enrolled at American School for the Deaf as their second school (first known as Connecticut Asylum for the Education and Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb).
