Sometimes it’s obvious to us when we are grieving. Someone died or a best friend moved across the country…we know exactly why we are sad.

Other times, however, we may experience feelings that don’t quite make sense or seem out of proportion.

A scene in a movie opens a well of sorrow…we are emptying the tissue box, but we aren’t really sad about the character in the movie - deeper feelings about some loss in real life have been triggered and grief is surfacing.

Processing grief with a therapist can be a helpful tool in understanding and making sense of grief.

Thank you, Sherrie, for reminding us that grief is a universal human experience. We all need to be gentle with ourselves and others.
