In honor of #NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth, let’s recognize William Alexander Caldwell, a dedicated educator and the first black deaf educator in the USA, who taught for around 38 years, including mentoring Black deaf students. Throughout his career, he taught in four different states, leaving a lasting impact. He passed away in 1944 and was laid to rest in St. Augustine, Florida.
