TRANSCRIPT:

Hey everyone! Morgan Jericho, VP, here, bringing you some important updates from the Oregon Association of the Deaf. We’re sharing new proposed bylaws rewritten and submitted by the bylaws committee chaired by VP Morgan Jericho. It is imperative that you review the proposed bylaws prior to the AGM. The proposed bylaws will restructure how OAD operates, and enable:

– Board-Driven Activities with Member Support: The new structure will allow the Board to take the lead on initiatives, while still ensuring that members have a voice and support in these efforts. This shift will help us be more proactive and effective in driving the organization’s mission forward.

– Increased Board Autonomy: The bylaws have been made more succinct, giving the Board greater flexibility to adapt and expand through policies and procedures. This means the Board can respond more swiftly to the changing needs within the Deaf community, ensuring we stay relevant and impactful.

– Alignment with NAD’s Work: Our proposed bylaws are closely aligned with the National Association of the Deaf’s (NAD) bylaws. We’ve revised our bylaws to mirror NAD’s principles and activities, ensuring that we’re in step with the broader Deaf community’s goals and priorities.

These changes are designed to make our organization more agile, aligned, and effective. We’re eager to hear what you think about these proposed updates. You can view the bylaws at this link: bylaws24.oad1921.org. The url will direct you to the document via Google Drive.
