If you’ve ever wondered what EMDR is, Deaf Counseling Center therapist, Lisa, breaks down this particular type of therapy. Designed as a treatment for PTSD, EMDR has also been shown to be effective with anxiety, depression, phobias and chronic pain. Fun fact: the founder of EMDR discovered it by accident, when she noticed that her upsetting memories became less intense when she thought about them while moving her eyes back and forth while walking in a park.
