The experience of having someone trick or deceive you for their own financial gain or other benefit can have a serious impact your mental health. In addition to feelings of betrayal, shame, and vulnerability, being scammed or conned can lead to feelings of increased anxiety, mistrust of others, and a loss of self-confidence in one’s judgment. It takes time and support from loved ones to heal and regain a sense of security. Lisa reflects on how she ended up in a marriage to a con artist and offers advice on how to avoid this.
