When Holiday Traditions Change

Many of us hold holiday gatherings and traditions close to our hearts. There are times, however, when life intervenes, throwing our holiday expectations and traditions into unfamiliar territory. This can happen due to a death, divorce, relocation, financial constraints, and so on. For a Deaf person, this can happen when the only other signing family member isn’t present at the family gathering for the first time ever, leaving the Deaf person feeling left out of conversations. Deaf Counseling Center therapist, Jarom, offers some ideas for dealing with changes in holiday traditions. #holidaygrief
