[VIDEO DESC & TRANSCRIPT: Angela is sitting at a desk and looks intrigued.
ANGELA: I want to go to this conference, but there’s no information about accessibility. I’ll email them.
[Text on-screen: later.]
Angela reads the email, on-screen text, “Hi Angela, we are not able to provide an ASL interpreter, because - “]
[Angela gives up and FaceTimes her friend]
Text-on-screen: Feeling defeated, Angela calls a friend.
ANGELA: Hey–
FRIEND: Hey! What’s up?
ANGELA: Remember that conference that I told you about?
FRIEND: Yeah…?
ANGELA: They declined my request for interpreters.
FRIEND: (sigh)
ANGELA: I don’t know HOW to advocate for myself.
FRIEND: The NAD has an advocacy letter for conferences – it has everything you need to tell them.
ANGELA: Really? Please send it to me!
[Angela looks at the advocacy letter in her email.]
ANGELA: Perfect, I’ll email this to them!
ANGELA [looking at the camera]: I’ll also have proof that I've been discriminated against if they refuse to accommodate.]
