[VIDEO DESC & TRANSCRIPT: NAD President Jenny Buechner and NAD CEO Howard Rosenblum are standing in the front of the black backdrop.

JENNY: Wow, 2022 flew by fast - we’re grateful for your support as we continue to serve the deaf and hard of hearing community.

HOWARD: A lot has happened this year – we’d like to look back and reflect on what we accomplished, addressed, and learned. However, this video would only scratch the surface!

JENNY: The NAD had its first in-person board meeting in January since the pandemic. It was a new experience for all of us, taking COVID tests, wearing masks, and keeping a safe distance throughout the weekend.

HOWARD: We had the first ever halftime show in ASL with Sean Forbes and Warren “WAWA” Snipe. We also had Sandra Mae Frank perform "America The Beautiful" and "Star Spangled Banner”.

JENNY: This year, the NAD contracted with Akilah English and Roberta Eaton, who provided anti-racism training for the Board and Team. We remain committed to dismantling racism in the deaf community.

HOWARD: We managed to pull off a month long daily posts for National Deaf History month in April, thanks to collaborations with different organizations and folks in our community!

JENNY: In April, we had a Board meeting in Colorado. We visited the Rocky Mountain Deaf School and the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind, and had a successful deaf night out with the Colorado Association of the Deaf.

HOWARD: This summer, we had a successful NAD Conference in Orlando, Florida! We worked hard to ensure inclusiveness and are looking forward to making improvements for 2024 in Chicago! (wink)

JENNY: During the conference, we had over 200 delegates vote on our five priorities, as well as new officers for the NAD Board.

HOWARD: We also had over 80 workshops, three training sessions, and over 50 exhibitors with us.

JENNY: This summer, the NAD Youth programs pulled off an amazing and successful in-person Youth Leadership Camp for the first time since 2019! YLC was virtual in 2020 and 2021.

HOWARD: In October, we hosted a NAD retreat in Leesburg, Virginia with the new members of the Board and Team. We reviewed the NAD’s history, our plans for the next two years, and what we need to do to address the five priorities.

JENNY: While 2022 was both challenging and memorable – we still have work to do…

HOWARD: To support our work, donate online at Link !

JENNY & HOWARD: Thank you and happy new year!]
