MATTHEW: As a deaf person, working with people wasn’t easy so I usually preferred to work in the back. This meant you don’t deal with people.

MATTHEW: I kept getting rejected when applying for a chef position. One day, I decided to ask why they didn't hire me. They explained that if there was a gas leak, it’d be too dangerous for a deaf person to work in the kitchen. I told them that gas explosions happened all the time and people involved were usually hearing. They realized I had a good point and hired me!
