[VIDEO DESC & TRANSCRIPT: Alex plays two roles, first as himself and as a waiter, inside a restaurant.
Alex waves to get the waiter’s attention and asks for a table for two.
Waiter checks for availability.
WAITER: (thumbs-up) For two, you can go ahead and sit there.
ALEX: Okay, that table - thanks!
Alex notices that the game is on TV but without captions. Alex gets the waiter’s attention again.
ALEX: Hey, come here! I’m deaf, can you put the CC (points to TV) on that TV please?
WAITER: Ohhh, no I can’t (gestures that other customers won’t like it).
ALEX: Ooookay, but how would we understand what’s going on in the game?
WAITER: I’m so sorry, I feel you but I’m sorry.
Waiter walks away.
ALEX (to camera): (shocked) Really, is he for real?! Seriously?! WOW (annoyed). There has to be a way to change his mind. (Thinking) OH wait, I remember that letter.
Alex calls the waiter over again and gets his phone.
ALEX: Hey! Come here!
He types something on his phone to show the waiter.
Waiter comes back and reads the letter on his phone.
ON-SCREEN TEXT: TV in Public Places Advocacy Letter.
WAITER: Ohh! Yeah, I’m sorry – I got you! I'll put the captions on right now!
ALEX: Thank you!
Waiter speaks to someone through the headset.]
