Here is a recap of the Carter Churchill Human Rights Hearing that took place about a month ago in Canada. Carter is a deaf child and his parents have accused the local school disrict of discriminating against him by not providing with a quality education in ASL. The province of Newfoundland and Labrador used to have a deaf school but it was closed in 2010. Deaf advocates say the case is critical to the future of deaf education and ASL access.
