Trying to remember everything during your interview - espically when you're nervous - can be tough! It's up to you to take notes during your interview - Gisella says it's important to use keywords for your notes and Lori says it's important to stay focused. Do what is the best for you!
[TRANSCRIPT & DESC: A screen recorded online event of four women on Zoom. They are Renate Rose, Tyese Wright, Gisella Tomita, and Lori Taylor.
RENATE: Can I take notes during my interview?
(an animated slide appears with a dark greyish-blue brick as the background. Question bubbles appear with Q and A, and a bold white text appeared, "Can I take notes during the interview?")
LORI: I wouldn’t do it during the interview, I would try to keep in in my mind until the interview ends - in your car, write everything down so you can keep the notes for practice. During the interview though, it’s about the interviewer and you. If you take notes during the interview, it can become distracting. Write it down after the interview.
GISELLA: For me, I think it’s okay! If someone wanted to bring notes to the interview, I say YES! If we feel stuck, we can look at our resume or notes - this can be done with questions too. I encourage my VR clients to jot down quick notes - don’t do it word by word, use keywords for your notes - percentages, statistics, goals, website links. Don’t bend your head to write, but write as you watch, you can say “give me a bit, excuse me a second - I want to write this down. I want to be sure this is the right link address.”
