Amelia: Hello! I’m Amelia England. I went to YLC back in 1994. Once, I went to a 4-H camp, which was a hearing camp and I had no interpreters. I was always lost and left behind. Someone told me about YLC and I didn’t know what it was. They explained about YLC but I wasn’t sure about it because 4-H wasn't a good experience. Eventually, I decided to go - and I’m glad I did because I learned a lot! YLC gave me an opportunity to grow, I had personal growth! I learned a lot about becoming a leader for my community. When I went back home, I noticed people don’t know much about leadership. So, I supported them and bring what I learned from YLC. Especially because now, I’m a regional VR counselor, I work with deaf and hard of hearing students and adults. It's amazing to watch them learn. It’s amazing to be able to see them be empowered and be strong, I see leaders right here. I’m really happy that I grew thanks to my YLC experience.]
