[Transcript: Dear Gallaudet community:
The university is aware of conversations taking place inside and outside of Gallaudet regarding alleged discriminatory language used against members of the cheer team. The Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices (formerly known as the Office of Student Conduct), the Office of the Ombuds, and staff in the Division of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion have been meeting with the relevant individuals to pursue a restorative path towards reconciliation. The process is ongoing, and requires space, active listening, and the appropriate due diligence to gather all facts and circumstances.
Gallaudet does not, and will not, tolerate discrimination in any form. The investigation and proper resolution of this incident is of the highest priority for our leadership. We apologize to those for whom this situation has caused considerable pain. Gallaudet will continue to honor our commitment in ensuring that Gallaudet remains a place where everyone can experience safety and belonging.
Thank you.]
