The Small Canoe spotlights how signers explore with any camera just like the rest of the world to get close to any message with some caption. It's my understanding that hearing people are making captions so audience can access to any insight, I've been questioned why my work isn't captioned as a deaf artist. I have to admit it is hard to caption my own work because I am thinking with two different brains, as a deaf from a hearing family and a deaf from a deaf world... I decide to help caption seems like a character so there is more captions for more characters. I thought I could caption this whole video but I stopped to reflect when the house is found... it is like how caption used to be about writing but stopped at singing. This video is different by attempting micro while macro got us well. My experience with this video is the challenge to keep it micro as much as possible without losing my hands by reaching out of the frame to portray how literature is literal is practiced by many, many who use their hands. Caption #1 and #2, hearing and deaf, interacting so The Small Canoe is better than a yacht.
