MELMIRA I SPOTLIGHT ON HEARD

Please join me in recognizing HEARD, a very important cross-disability abolitionist organization that unites across identities, communities, movements, and borders to end ableism, racism, capitalism, and all other forms of oppression and violence. HEARD supports disabled people and others who experience ableism by rejecting disability hierarchies and rigid definitions of disability, and by recognizing deaf people as part of disability communities. HEARD works to increase our collective capacity to identify, understand, and challenge oppression through grassroots advocacy, community organizing, peer support, mutual aid, education, and research.
(as noted in their Mission).
HEARD truly deserves the spotlight as they celebrate their 10 (YES, TEN!!!) year anniversary.
I always knew they did such important work, but I never really realized the full scope of their work.
Please consider supporting them during their fundraiser by donating to: bit.ly/heard10years
These funds will go directly toward mutual aid for currently/formerly deaf/disabled incarcerated people and their loved ones to access counseling, commissary supplies, telecommunications, legal services, and the many needs that arise as folks reenter the community outside of carceral facilities.
