MELMIRA I ALWAYS LOVE YOURSELF

So …. I sort of have an embarrassing confession.
This Valentine’s Day …. My first one as a single woman since ….
MIDDLE SCHOOL!? YES! For real!
I know that sounds like I married my middle school sweetheart, but nope - just a serial monogamist here!
Anyway - point what?
I’m actually SO ready to own it this year - yeaaa, I’m single! So? Cool ….
But ugh, yes …. I’ll be honest, seeing everything out on social media, the ads, all the couples challenges, pictures, etc ….
Being single on Valentine’s Day can really make us question our worth, bringing out our wounds, insecurities, regrets - making us wonder what’s wrong with us for not having a partner.
Don’t get me wrong, beautiful relationships should definitely be celebrated. Yes, yes. It’s just funny - even when I was in my relationships, I wasn’t for the all out fancy schmancy Valentine’s Day experience like chocolate, roses, stuffed animals, etc… I was happy just staying in and enjoying pizza with a good movie. Maybe a little extra loving on that day, sure!
Growing up even BEFORE I started having romantic interest, I loved Valentine’s Day - my family always made it about LOVE among each other.
Gee, thanks society!
So what am I going to do? Celebrate my family, my friends, and most importantly, MYSELF! Yes.
Continue my journey of self-love …. Knowing that I can be whole on my own. Knowing I don’t need someone else to “complete” me.
For you all… whether you’re single or in a relationship, do know that YOU are loved, whole, and worth it on your own, either way! Screw society expectations! Be you, do you on this Valentine’s Day!
