Again, I, RVL, said to weigh what all other Ivy College law school professors DISAGREE with Alan Dershowitz on Senate Impeachment Trial for Prez Trump after his term ends. Don't let Prez Trump get away with "Get a FREE jail (Monopoly game card) unpunishable criminal acts to breach the impeachable US Constitutional for "abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in connection with the Trump–Ukraine scandal (1st impeachment/acquitted two counts on Senate trial, 2/5/2020)" and "incitement of insurrection in connection of attempted to overturn 2020 presidential election, fed his lies claiming of election fraud, and efforts to pressure Georgia election officials to overturn GA senator runoff election" (2nd impeachment) charge. The Epoch Times is a far-right international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement, based in Midtown Manhattan. The newspaper is part of the Epoch Media Group, which also operates New Tang Dynasty (NTD) Television. The Epoch Times has websites accessible from 35 countries but is blocked in mainland China. ------ Question: What would it take to disqualify the former president from holding office in the future? Would a conviction automatically do that? Answer: Conviction wouldn't automatically do that. There's pretty clear precedent that there are two separate questions. That is conviction and removal for office and then subsequently a disqualification vote. The standard for a conviction is a two-thirds majority. That's specified by the Constitution. The practice has been to treat the disqualification vote as a majority vote, but those are two different decisions that have to be made by the Senate.
