KIM: National Conventions happen every four years before the general election. People vote for the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidate for their parties. There are also presentations. People who attend are Delegates and Superdelegates -- Delegates are appointed by the State party and the Superdelegates are the people who are already elected officials such as Senators, Representatives, Governors, etc. They get together to nominate a President candidate and a Vice President candidate. National Party platforms are also voted on during the conventions.
