[TRANSCRIPT & DESC: The video is in black and white while a blue square spins in the center and opens up with a dark gray bar with white text “NAD Law & Advocacy Center”. A bright blue rectangle with black text “FYI #5” pops up below. Sean is wearing a dark blue NAD polo. The NAD logo is on the bottom right corner.

SEAN: Some people contact the NAD to help with family law related cases such as divorce, custody, estate, traffic court, ID theft, and more. Deaf in prison sometimes ask us about criminal law issues such as criminal appeals, police brutality, or wrongful conviction. Those cases are important! Like doctors who specialize in different health areas like the back, skin, or the heart, and so on -- lawyers also have different areas of practice. The NAD is a disability rights organization, we take cases where the disability rights of deaf people are violated. We are not experts in criminal law or family law or etc, we focus on disability rights for deaf and hard of hearing people. However, when we cannot take cases for any reason, we always refer to lawyers who are experts in that area. So for example, for cases that require criminal experts, we tend to refer to HEARD, Innocence Project, Equal Justice Initiative, and more.

Video cuts to a dark blue background. Red alphabet letters of “N-A-D” in American Sign Language appear one by one in the center of the video. The copyright text appears in white underneath, “National Association of the Deaf, Copyright 2020, All Rights Reserved”.]
