VIDEO DESC/ TRANSCRIPT: A white person with chin length brown hair and glasses in their early 30s. They’re seated in a green office chair next to a black desk with a laptop and a pen tablet.]

CARLISLE: Hello! My name is (sign name which is a bent ‘L’ that looks like ‘C’ going up and down next to eye) Carlisle Robinson. I draw what? Digital art. What’s 0101? That’s a sign for ‘digital’ which is anything with computer, pen tablet, ipad/tablet, anything electronic. I use what?

Carlisle points to the tablet and laptop and shows a close up of black pen tablet that’s a bit bigger than laptop. It has buttons on left and is plugged to the laptop. Then, shows a pen stylus, which is black thick and has two button on side.

CARLISLE: These are called pen tablet. It’s connected to laptop so I can draw. I use a computer program called Adobe Photoshop. What do I draw? I draw comics and illustrations. Some of you might know me from an online video game called Deafverse. [An image of Deafverse website homepage with logo and words ‘play now’ over a picture of a player holding Deafverse comic book cover.] It’s a game for HS students to learn how to
empower yourself for the future. Another thing that I’ve been working on is a book titled Charlie and Frog: A Mystery by Karen Kane. [An image of the book cover appears on screen.] It has a Deaf main character in it named Frog. It’s a cool book that you should read. I drew chapter headers for it.
Now I will show you my process of drawing.

A close up of Carlisle. CARLISLE: I begin with a draft. I just draw whatever ideas I got. It doesn’t have to be perfect. I draw and revise the drawing until I feel satisfied. Then I do inking process, which is when I add black outline for a final refined look. Then I do coloring stage, adding coloring. Next is shading in which I add shadow such as under face, a shadow behind me on the wall, etc. [Pointing to a shadow on the wall] That. Then I do shine to highlight features so to make the drawing look more attractive. Then I do background and anything else. I present it to a client and get their approval.

Video shows the laptop screen which shows a draft of handshape ‘Y L C’. My hand is moving to draw. Then it changes to inking. Then coloring stage in which hands are filled with green color. Then shading with dark green, and shine with lime green.

Finally, the video shows to the completed ‘Y L C’ drawing, panning over it. At bottom right corner is @ carodoodles .
