Sharing a story how an unknown person became my deaf cousin.
When I was searching for identifications to put caption under a photo in my “Baltimore’s Deaf Heritage†book, I couldn’t identify the last man in the row of deaf men. I left him as unknown.
Years later, I met my two deaf 4th cousins and we have three more deaf cousins in the family but they passed away while back. One of the living cousins asked me to find out whether one favorite deaf cousin of theirs died or not. I found information on Schede Wynn.
What I learned is Schede Wynn was a professional boxer for a short time. His picture was in the newspaper (shown in video). His face was familiar and I had a gut feeling to look into the book.
Good enough, unknown person was actually my cousin, Schede Wynn! What an inspiration.
