Colossians 1:24 is a difficult verse for some people. It seems to teach that Jesus’ work on the cross was not complete and we must make up for it through our suffering, so we can be saved. Paul is not teaching that. He has already taught that Jesus' work on the cross has been accomplished as the God-man brought us to peace with the Father through the “blood of his cross” (vv. 15–23).
