Hi, My name is Marco Sotelo. I was born in Mexico and I am the only Deaf person in my Family.  I moved to the United States for better Education as well, to become successful. Here I am, I am here to share my passion in Photography and Filmmaking.

A little bit about why I fell in love in Photography and Filmmaking, I remembered when I was 10 years old, my father introduced me to photography because he was also a photographer. My father gave me my first 35mm Film Camera. My first inspiration was taking pictures of Squirrels and campers at Camp Isola Bella. I got so excited that my father took me to Costco Wholesale to get my films developed. I was filled with so much happiness and that happiness lead me do more photography.

Growing up as a student at American School for the Deaf (ASD) in Hartford, Connecticut, I participated in School Yearbook Club. I had the opportunities to take pictures and do film work for school's activities (examples: Sports, Fashion Shows, Dorm Activities, Elementary Graduation & etc). I also took several photography classes at ASD . I remembered one Deaf Printer that taught me how to developed pictures. All these experiences were taken on my 35mm Film Camera.

I subscribed a Photography Magazine that allowed me to learn more about Digital photography. I was Self-Taught on how to use Digital Camera and Filmmaking from doing research online on my own with some schooling experience. Eventually, I earned a Lifetime membership in International Association of Press Photographers.

With years of experience in Photography and Filmmaking, I developed a passion in taking pictures of Nature, Landscaping  and people. With this experiences, I continue to teach myself on how to capture better pictures using technology on my computer. I also am learning how to make better filming with the right equipment.
I just started to developed interests in doing interviews with Deaf people. Being one of the few Deaf Latinos, it is important that we are being recognize for our work. At this time, I really need your support to be able to purchase better equipments that will allow me do more film work and photography. Not only doing this project, it will allow me to travel and meet varieties of Deaf people in our community for different purposes. For example, I just made a short film interviewing an 87 years old Deaf Cuban and allowed the person to share their experience of living in Cuba. With this fundraising, I am asking for your support and allow me to reach 40 thousand dollars. My goal is to be an excellent role-model for our Deaf Youth especially with minorities. With these equipments, I will be able to educate them and gain interest in Photography and Video Project. For example, I was asked to teach campers at Zoppi Deaf Camp next year.  We need to see more Diverse Photographers and Filmmakers in our Youth Deaf Populations.

I am grateful for any financial support you can donate to this GoFundMe and give me opportunity to achieve this goal.  Once again, THANK YOU! MUCHAS GRACIAS!
