Honoring #blackhistory, #blackhistorymonth , and #blackdeafhistorymonth with Linwood Daguerre Smith. He last lived in New Carrollton, Maryland. He was killed by a teen driver in Richmond, Virginia and passed away on November 13, 1982 before the Black & Deaf in America book was released with co-author, Ernest Hairston. He also wrote 1973 #poetry #book called “Silence, Love, and Kids I know” then got it re-published in 1979 when National Association of the Deaf (NAD) agreed to partner with the Black Deaf Caucus group and NAD members to open welcome the Black Deaf members. #Gallaudet University has a Linwood Smith scholarship fund in his name and need more donations to raise to keep the fund open to support the @gallaudetu Gallaudet University students who meet the criteria requirements. #deafhistory #deafeducation #deafstudies #ASL #Signlanguage #whyisign #DeafTalent #Deaf #deafcommunity #DeafJourney #OurDeafCommunity #OurDeafJourney #book #bookshelf #aslrose
