Past Youth Ambassador Elena shares how she decided her current profession, thanks to YAP. #NADYAP

THE DEADLINE IS TODAY, February 1st: Link

VIDEO DESCRIPTION AND TRANSCRIPT: Elena is in front of an off-white wall outside. A small white NAD logo appears on bottom right corner.

ELENA: Hello, my name is Elena Mayer. I was involved in YAP during 2013-2015. I signed up for YAP because I had a lot of creative energy and was motivated to give back to the community. I also wanted to seize the opportunity to travel somewhere new and meet people. And I did! I met deaf lawyers fighting for our rights. I met people that worked in interesting professions such as business, technology, and education. I met YLC campers and builders, young deaf girls in the Bay Area, and students who attended the Jr. NAD Conference. These experiences inspired me to incorporate innovation from various professions with activities for deaf kids. Now, thanks to that experience, I am becoming a deaf educator! My favorite memory is the retreat and meeting other YAP competitors. Everyone had their own ideas and was very passionate. That didn’t mean we were solely focused on ourselves and only worked on our own projects -- we supported each other and contributed ideas. Our passion to give back to the community grew and became even stronger. I still keep in touch with them today! What are you waiting for? Go ahead and sign up!

Video fades to a soft white background with several different font types showing "NAD" very quickly. Copyright video ends with the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) logo centered. Blue text below the logo appears, "The National Association of the Deaf / (copyright) 2018 All Rights Reserved / Link ". After a few beats, a yellow highlight appears with the URL.
