Region II Representatives Linsay Jr. and Richard share a brief update from Hawaii.

LINSAY Jr. (left) & RICHARD (right): Aloha!

RICHARD: We are your Region II Representatives and we are here in Hawai’i! The beautiful warm weather here is amazing! The sun is out, and the water is perfect. You may wonder why we are here.

LINSAY Jr.: We are in Hawai’i for our three-day Board meeting. We have discussed a number of things that concern and involve you. We have had a very productive meeting.

RICHARD: In Region II – there has been a lot happening in various states in terms of legislative updates since the new term began in 2018. Most State Associations arefocusing on passing a LEAD-K bill in their states as well as other legislative issues. We are here to help support you with these bills.

LINSAY Jr.: That’s right, if you need anything, we’re ready to serve you.

RICHARD: Some of you have new issues and challenges in your states, and we learn about those changes through our monthly video meeting. These meetings have shifted in leadership to allow the Region II SAAC chair to lead those meetings instead. The monthly video meeting dialogues are going very well and we look forward to more in the coming months.

LINSAY Jr.: I am also involved with the Youth Strategy Team (YST). We have discussed different ideas and ways to bridge the gap between the youth and the NAD. For those of you who are between 18-30 years old, keep an eye out for exciting news coming your way.

RICHARD: I am involved with the Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) Taskforce. I will share updates soon. I also wanted to share that I am on the Bylaws committee for the upcoming NAD conference in Hartford. I will keep you posted! Search Link for conference updates.

LINSAY Jr.: During the conference, I will be involved with the Youth Luncheon. If you will be going to Hartford, join us at that luncheon!
