Region IV Representatives Martin and Lisa share a brief update from Hawaii.
VIDEO DESCRIPTION AND TRANSCRIPT: Martin (left) and Lisa (right) are standing outside under some shade, in front of bright green bushes with few red flowers. A small white NAD logo appears on bottom right corner.
MARTIN (left) & LISA (right): Aloha!
LISA: That means love.
MARTIN: That is right, â€Aloha†is a community term that values connection and love between people, no matter who you are. It has been wonderful to be here.
LISA: We are in Hawai’i.
MARTIN: That is right. While we have been here, we have met wonderful people and experienced wonderful hosts. We visited the wonderful Hawaii School for the Deaf and Blind; it is such a beautiful campus. It was wonderful meeting the students and we were happy to have the opportunity to engage in activities with the students. They are our future leaders of the NAD and other organizations!
LISA: You are right, Martin. We are here in Hawai’i for our Board meeting. We focused most of our discussion on getting ready for the upcoming conference happening during the first week of July. We are busy with preparation for that conference.
MARTIN: Mark your calendars for July 2-7 and join us in Hartford, Connecticut. We look forward to seeing you there. There are so many things happening that week: the business meeting, evening events, seeing people, and more. You will have the opportunity to network and participate. We are excited that three other organizations will partner and host this conference with us. We look forward to having you join us.
LISA: The conference will also wrap up the American School for the Deaf (ASD)’s 200th Anniversary event. Come and join us!
MARTIN: Mahalo.
LISA: Thank you.
Video fades to a soft white background with several different font types showing "NAD" very quickly. Copyright video ends with the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) logo centered. Blue text below the logo appears, "The National Association of the Deaf / (copyright) 2018 All Rights Reserved / Link ". After a few beats, a yellow highlight appears with the URL.
