Hello everyone!

This is Chris Haulmark, running for US House of Representatives in Kansas’s Third Congressional District.

Today, we will discuss the American Sign Language Interpreting system.

How it works here in USA.

How it’s set up for our use.

How it includes the Deaf community into the events.

Ok, first- a gentle reminder that yesterday morning’s institutional oppression of Johnson County Democratic Party’s segregation of me from the same forum with the four other competitors continues, so let’s not forget that, okay?

As it so happens, we told Tucker Poling, the forum moderator, in a private conversation that we did not appreciate the decision to segregate me from the process because I am a Deaf, and I do know this is institutional oppression.

Tucker went off to discuss the issue with other party members and returned with an offer for me to join with the candidates on the forum.

After I contemplated the offer, I had to decline.

Before I explain why, hold onto your thoughts.

Be informed that when the first forum question was posed, each of the four candidates took turns responding.

The last candidate was Brent Welder, who stated he wanted me to join the forum after his turn.

Err... I appreciated the offer as I stood up to explain why I couldn’t do so, given a specific reason.

The candidates acknowledged my response, and they continued with the forum.

In a way, that continues the institutional oppression on me.

The reason given was: there’s no American Sign Language Interpreting Team system set up for my participation in the forum.

Also because I did not have the time to announce and remind fellow Deaf community people to come support and compare all of our platforms.

Let’s think about that.

Ok, I will explain for next month’s forum at the Johnson County Democrats Second Saturday Breakfast in November how the American Sign Language Interpreting Team should be set up.

Just so you know, yesterday morning, Johnson County Democratic Party was willing to pay for only ONE of the interpreters.

Just one for the entire two hours.

You would see this in the brief clip of yesterday's vlog, showing just that ONE of the interpreters constantly signing for two hours, interpreting just the forum responses from all four candidates.

Not a good idea!

It’s very mentally taxing and physically active job.

The American Sign Language interpreter was sweating buckets, yes!

And, think about that- is that a good thing for ONE American Sign Language interpreter to go through that employment brutality?

No, not at all!
