Hello everyone!

This is Chris Haulmark, running for US House of Representatives in Kansas’s Third Congressional District.

I want to talk about an epic story with you!

Today- oh gosh, I feel FORCED to take action!

Unbelievably, not only by myself, for myself, but also for ALL OF US WHO are INSANELY OPPRESSED in this country EVERY DAY!!

By the people- the very same people of our party!

First, let us back up a bit…

*shifting gears* I already knew it would happen.

Our campaign for Congress would face obstacles from the very start.

We would experience institutional oppression.

We would definitely experience intense prejudice.

We would experience MANY HORRIBLE situations.

Yet, specifically how that would happen, we didn’t know.

This has been totally unexpected!

BUT!

Since our campaign was announced last June, there have been MANY, MANY- oppressive incidents.

And TODAY! The LARGEST ONE that has happened so far!

I guess it started last Saturday, but first let me explain this campaign’s background and this district.

Hmm… there are 6 candidates running for Third Congressional District Democratic Party nomination.

Ok, here’s the lineup:

I, Chris Haulmark, am number one.

Second is Andrea Ramsey, a woman.

Third is Brent Welder, a gentleman.

Fourth is Tom Niermann.

Fifth is Jay Sidie.

And sixth is Reggie Marselus.

So those are the six Congressional candidates.

Okay, got that?

With this in mind, last Saturday, the Johnson County Democrat Party chairperson notified me that I was invited to present my platform in November, during the Second Saturday Breakfast event.

Today’s Second Saturday Breakfast event was supposedly planned to feature three of the six candidates, okay?

Now think about that.

I learned and verified whom they are: Andrea Ramsey, Tom Niermann, and Brent Welder, okay.

What happened suspiciously last Tuesday, I received the Johnson County newsletter announcing those three names being featured at the event.

Our campaign sent an email to the Johnson County Democrat leadership, as we didn’t want to be placed with the other two candidates during next month’s Second Saturday Breakfast event.

We wanted to be on the SAME FLOOR, with the SAME AUDIENCE, as we are campaigning at the same level as the three candidates featured today.

Their response stated the candidate selection was random, which just resulted in those three choices.

Oh boy! BUT suspiciously, that Tuesday Democratic Party newsletter showed a lineup substitution: Andrea Ramsey, Tom Niermann, and...get this… Jay Sidie.

So I grudgingly accepted this lineup change as I thought Brent Welder would appear with me and Reggie at next month’s Second Saturday Breakfast event.

Brent and I are at a fairly good equitable campaign level in this race.

Ahh, but, get this...yesterday, we got ANOTHER newsletter blast from Johnson County Democrats showing a list of FOUR people: Andrea Ramsey, Tom Niermann, Brent Welder, and Jay Sidie, leaving me and Reggie Marcellus for next month’s event in November.

SERIOUSLY?!

We were contacted by several people in the Democrat Party, expressing their frustration.

I shared MY frustration, too!

I said “That’s obviously discrimination!”

Hey, first, we want to respect Reggie Marcellus and his campaign and take a moment to explain why he and I are not effective together due to our differing campaign levels.

Reggie Marcellus has consistently filed for candidacy, including last year’s election, as well as the election three years ago, and before then, too.

Reggie has an amazing spirit- wow! What a spirited effort! We certainly tip our hat to him for that.

Yet, during the elections, he has not gained many votes- got that?

So having our campaign share the same floor with Reggie Marcellus (and no one else) makes us feel very diminished.

THAT’S what Johnson County Democrat Party leadership is doing to ME because I’m DEAF!

We feel very SEGREGATED, like I’m out of the picture, not sharing the same audience with the other three candidates, actually four!

*deep breath* So, I showed up at the Breakfast event this morning, yeah I did!

Of course, I respected the event facilitation process, but still I wanted to share my concerns.

I spoke with Ethan Corson, the Kansas Democrat Party Executive Director about what’s going on.

That didn’t go well.

He seemed very passive and disinterested. Oh well.

So that didn’t help.
