Chris Haulmark​ provides a statement on the "controversial" demonstrations against racism, institutional inequality, and our country's divisive leadership.

Hello everyone!

I’m Chris Haulmark, running for the US House of Representatives in Kansas’s Third Congressional District.

Y’know… I truly do LOVE my country.

Whenever I look at the US flag, I see the white and red stripes, and 50 stars on the blue rectangle background.

There it waves…

As I reflect from grade school history class, along with all that I’ve picked up over the years about America’s history…

*reflecting*

I know that we have fought for so much together as a great nation.

We DID begin with a protest so long ago.

We declared our independence as a protest against England, dumping the tea overboard in Boston Harbor…

*grin*  Whew!

Yup, that’s our very FIRST protest, upon the founding of a new nation!

As it so happens, our Civil War experience was a protest, too.

We’ve had so many, many, many demonstrations throughout the fabric of our country…

Now..

Today, we have a politically charged protest, too.

Especially with Colin Kaepernick, who protested to show a political message...

The message being: “Enough with the black oppression here in America!”

Our country has terrible institutional oppressive racism.

That’s SO racist in our great country.

Time to work on it…

To succeed in improving the lives in our Black communities, whom ARE also Americans!

*thinking*

Just so you know, Colin’s act was a respectfully ideal protest act: kneeling.

Why is this so?

It shows respect to our military…

It shows respect to our fallen soldiers who perished in combat..

*bows in reverence*

Kneeling is a very ancient tradition of showing respect.

We kneel to pray!

We used to kneel in reverence to kings and queens back then.

There are so many different esteemed causes that we kneel for!

Kaepernick’s kneeling act is one of those.

Think about that…

His kneeling act of protest has sparked our collective introspection of America’s history.

We must look at what’s happening in our society that needs to be addressed with a collective solution- to draw attention to what America needs to support for the betterment of ALL Americans.

Yes- let that sink in.

Admittedly, I’m disappointed with our President’s reaction to all of those involved in our demonstrations...

Hmm…

Yes, even to those demonstrating the neo-Nazi flag-waving in North Carolina, while wearing the Nazi swastika armbands.

At that time, our President didn’t object.  

He didn’t even reprimand them!  

Not at all!

For real?

That was a despicable demonstration, SUPPORTING the deaths of MILLIONS and MILLIONS of victims back then!

Deaths that sparked the necessary act of fighting a war for humanity.

To STOP the evil powers.

Now, the President distracts us by focusing on our professional sports players, who are protesting against institutional racism and police brutality.

What a shame!

Come to think of it…

I do support the protesters’ causes!

I SUPPORT the fight against institutional oppression.

Come join our fight!
