Hello everyone!

I am Chris Haulmark, running for Kansas’s Third Congressional District!

It's so unbelievable how horrible today is:

#1: DACA program’s terminating, leaving only Congress capable of taking action,

#2: a huge hurricane barreling towards the American coast, which may hit Florida.

#3: an email was received from the Johnson County Democratic Party chairperson, the wording of which seems to exhort moving on from the unresolved sign language interpreting team oversight that occurred during last week’s First Saturday Breakfast event.

The chairperson asked I share to all that, she is trying her best to make sure ASL interpreters are available during future Johnson County Democrats First and Second Saturday Morning Breakfast events.

[sigh]

It is difficult for me to accept and believe, especially after how that approach treats me as a Deaf and disabled person.

This is not completely inclusive of all Americans and Kansans.

We, the Deaf people, are being left out and are being told to put up and deal with when ASL interpreting team does not show up to a contracted assignment.

[dramatic pause]

Now, as one can see, it's so very important to fundraise money for our Congressional campaign- to secure an ASL interpreting team working with me, along with any Deaf people joining the campaign, especially for public events.

Fellow Deaf community members intuitively understand how wrong the chairperson’s words were and, would know what we really do need to have full accessibility.

There are still so many people out there remaining neutral, unwilling to be part of this fight, none of whom have contacted me to support the idea that groups of disabled persons should be included in ALL political and democratic processes that is the right for all American citizens!

In fact, I am still waiting for more input from Deaf and disabled community members...
