Hello everyone!

I am Chris Haulmark, running for U.S. House of Representatives for Kansas’s Third Congressional District.

[grimacing]

Today, I wish to talk about what happened this morning.

What happened was clearly institutional ableism!

And oppression!

Institutional oppression onto all of us, the Deaf and disabled Kansans and Americans!

Including me, too!

Yes, indeed!

Just this morning, The Kansas City Star posted a Facebook Live video hosting Representative Kevin Yoder, that Republican whom currently represents Kansas's Third District.

The Kansas City Star editorial board members Colleen Nelson and Steve Kraske were also hosted.

I am grievously disappointed The Kansas City Star had no accessible captions or American Sign Language interpreters available.

Previously, The Kansas City Star planned ahead in scheduling an ASL interpreting team for Yoder, with a Facebook Live stream showing the interpreting team in a video window corner.

That worked very well!

BUT!

Today, Facebook alerted an unannounced & surprising Facebook Live stream hosted by The Kansas City Star!

I watched with great interest to learn whether Kevin Yoder had changed his stance on health care. Did he?

Does Kevin Yoder support or not support Donald Trump?

Many local Democrat leaders have contacted me, asking for help drawing political interest from the local Deaf community, including them in voter registration and participating in the electoral process.

Hey you, Democrat leaders! Look at what just happened!

The Kansas City Star is clear solid evidence why so many Deaf community members in Kansas are denied access to our democratic process.

We, the Deaf people, cannot get involved to make informed voting decisions.

We are being denied information on what’s happening in our politics!

I, Kansas’s Third Congressional district candidate Chris Haulmark, welcome everyone to join us to fight against the institutional oppression of our Deaf and disabled communities!

Let’s fight together!
