Hello and good morning!
This is Chris Haulmark.
I made this vlog to ask Wesley Arey
[pausing]
please do watch...
I confess, a major obstacle reared its ugly head during a discussion conducted after posting yesterday's institutional ableism vlog.
The discussion escalated to a heated debate with a fellow political colleague.
The debate made me realize...whew...this is a valuable insight:
The audistic institutional ableism obstacle is being bigger than I had ever imagined.
Audism is definitely prevalent all across America for us Deaf people.
Even in my Congressional campaign, I address the very same phenomenon.
It's my desire to completely destroy that oppression.
Yet, I cannot do this by myself.
[pause]
Today, I watched Wesley's story, sharing what transformed him.
He wanted transform himself through the illuminating power and beauty of American Sign Language.
Meaning he revealed love through American Sign Language.
[pause]
So, I invite Wesley Arey to join and work together
[deep emotional breath]
to reach out to Deaf community, inviting them to help me.
[deep emotional breath]
Yes, I do need help.
I need a lot help from all of you in our Deaf community.
Help me fight against this huge audist Dragon.
An audist Dragon is preventing us, oppressing us, and keeping us down.
Now is when we really need to face this Dragon.
[sobs]
I need to raise funding to get the top-quality skilled inclusively competent ASL interpreters.
There should be no excuses for institutional ableists and audists to make decisions that we can make do with limited volunteers and low-quality American Sign Language interpreters capable of messing up the quality of my statements.
These powerful messages must be shared to all Kansans and Americans as we to progress forward.
So I must have top-quality skilled inclusively competent ASL interpreters.
This costs money.
That why I ask for help.
Please.
