TRANSCRIPT:

Attention!

We, DeafPhoenix, need young adults', such as middle and high school students and recent graduates’, parents', and the Deaf community's attention to discuss about Snapchat.

The latest warning came from a young hearing girl and her mother frantically educating the world about Snapchat that they have a new feature called Snap Map also known as Stalk Your Friends. It shows up once a Snapchat user updates their phone that enables the Snap Map without informing them. This is a terrifying discovery that many Snapchat users are not aware of this feature.

Snap Map allows anyone-- doesn't matter if they are on your list or not-- to view the Snapchat videos on Stories feed from anywhere, everywhere...again, especially the ones that aren't on your Snapchat list.

An user can see their friends Snapchat stories from afar and other complete strangers, too, including in Middle East, Caribbean, Australia, South America-- everywhere!

This Snap Map also allows people to stalk on other people especially perpetrators that many survivors may not be aware of this. This gives bullies to watch their victims and continues to pick on them, too. This sets an awkward position for a person, who goes to a party or host a party, and their friends will see it on Snapchat and realize that they aren't invited. Sure, it does seem to be a fun and easy way to connect with friends, but many younger users may not realize that they are putting themselves and others in danger by broadcasting their Snapchat video on Stories publicly everywhere. So many other vulnerable possibilities that may transpire from enabling the SnapMaps mode, please be aware.

How to turn off Snap Map feature and there are two ways to do this:

From iPhone:
1. Go to Settings
2. Click on Privacy
3. Click on Location Services
