Hello, my name is Joy Maisel. I am here to represent our ASLized board members. We are proud to announce that we will host an annual fictional story competition. The purpose of this competition is to encourage Deaf people and CODAs, Children of Deaf Adults, to provide creative ASL storytelling and play with ASL. We also want to expand our ASL corpus with this competition. While we have plenty of ASL corpus, we notice that there are certain fictional areas that we lack. We need to expand our collection of fictional stories. This competition will help this become a reality. At this time, we are focusing on two different kinds of fictional stories: historical fiction and science fiction. Do not worry if you are not sure what each genre requires because we will provide more information about these two genres in the other video. We also will have other videos that explain the rules, eligibility, and dates of this competition. We hope you will join and have fun with us!
