On Monday, September 26, DTV News released a live-streaming debate with ASL interpreters for the first time in history.

Here is the summary of what happened during the debate in Hempstead, New York, between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump. Lester Holt, a journalist with NBC, was the moderator.

While Clinton appeared to be practiced and seasoned, Trump fell flat, failing to touch on big points involving Clinton such as the Benghazi attacks in 2012 and donations given to the Clinton Foundation.

Last week, the Commission on Presidential Debates publicized the main themes that would be covered which included, “America’s direction, achieving prosperity, and securing America.” Both nominees discussed taxes, national security, the economy, and foreign policy.

Questions about Trump’s tax returns, his position about supporting the Iraq war, and his stance regarding where President Barack Obama was born were debated. Trump stated that he would release his tax returns, against his lawyer’s request, only when Clinton releases her 33,000 deleted emails.

Holt’s moderation of the debate is facing a debate of its own. Some believe that he favored Clinton and fact checked Trump, while others believe he did a good job of letting the candidates duke it out. Both candidates put on their best show.

The next debate is the Vice Presidential Debate which will take place on Tuesday, October 4, in Farmville, Virginia at 9:00 pm ET.
