Camp Kesem is a week-long camp for children whose parents have either been diagnosed with or have passed away from cancer. The summer camp was created to give children their best summer ever. At Camp Kesem, anyone who attends automatically gets a spot if they would like to return the following summer.

Abi Yates, head of the Indiana University Camp Kesem Chapter, and the first camper to become a professional member of the camp stated that the organization “gave [her] a family that she didn’t know she really needed.” Yates continued to state that the campers who attend are all going through very difficult times, and that the people she connected with became like family and the relationships she developed were a beautiful gift.

Camp Kesem was founded by Iris Ravé Wedeking in 2000. In the summer of 2016, 70 locations will be home to the camp, and 90 weeks of fun activities for campers will run. At least 3,000 college students will work with Camp Kesem as volunteers.

Keep up the great work!
