What if you could point at words on a paper, and have your glasses do the reading for you? OrCam, is a new device that reads text aloud to blind individuals. The user just has to clip the device onto their glasses, and point at the text in front of them, and OrCam will read the text aloud. The device includes other unique features that will excite users.
The device can be programmed to recognize faces, commercial products, or even personal items. In order to have it recognize a person, the person must stand in front of the blind user, push a button, and say the person’s name. It’s as simple as that!
OrCam is changing the technology industry for people with vision issues in a positive direction. This technology will help people with macular degeneration, Stargardt disease, or other diseases that cannot be corrected by surgery or glasses. The device costs around $2,500 to $3,500. It can take a picture of the text, processes the information, and read it quickly aloud.
Moshe Fischer, was thrilled when he used the product, and said, “It’s like having a friend read to you! Reading the newspaper has become so much easier now instead of relying on a magnifying glass!†It’s really amazing what technology can do these days!
Those are our top stories for today.
