Rosina:
Following public outcry over long waits at airports last week, the Transportation Security Administration announced plans to make improvements to the system. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson says they plan to have more than 750 new officers in place as early as mid June. He said Congress approved 34 million dollars for the new hires and to cover for increases in overtime and part-time hours for current employees. In addition to increasing staff, the TSA is also looking to streamline the work they do. They are asking flyers to be patient as they ask the airlines to limit the size and number of carry-on bags security workers handle. They are also asking the airlines to take care of other non-security tasks such as moving bins. The cause of the growing security lines is a 10 percent decrease in TSA staffing and a 15 percent increase in passengers over the last three years.
