Deaf actor, Russell Harvard, from the musical Spring Awakening, is the main character in Playwright, Craig Lucas’s next play, “I Was Most Alive with You.” The new play is about a deaf man named Knox, who undergoes multiple severe life reversals. Lucas Saw Harvard’s performance in the play “Tribes” Off Broadway in 2012 and after that wrote the role specifically for Harvard.

“I Was Most Alive with You” is based on Biblical stories of the trials of Job, and will open on May 27th at the South End Calderwood Pavilion in Boston. The play is running for a limited time, and is scheduled to end June 26th. The play will feature both hearing and deaf actors. Four Deaf shadow interpreters will also be on stage, moving near the actor they are interpreting for.

For fans that don’t know American Sign Language, they’re in luck! Text will be projected on a wall when ASL is used on stage. Harvard said in an interview that this is the most thrilling moment in his life, and he cannot wait to see how his artistic journey in life unfolds. Tickets can be ordered online at HuntingtonTheatre.org
