In memory of Dennis Palka, a former teacher at Amercian School for the Deaf. Not just a teacher, but with a big heart!

Posted on Facebook:
Dennis Palka, a loyal teacher who hailed from American School for the Deaf, passed away recently. There are only three things I can describe why he was a loyal teacher...

First and foremost, he was quite a strict teacher but never ceased to have his students and colleagues realize how much inputs from him was all about how to read courses in ahead of us that shape our lives.

Secondly, besides his strictness he had a thing for spirits. The way he expressed it, he never ceased to make anyone feel left out by allowing them to see through him, to understand why at some point he's strict and other times he's not. Learning how to set and respect boundaries, he had numerous golden exercises for every one of us to practice to believe that we are capable of understanding what he understood, and be independent.

The third recollection of Dennis Palka, I still find myself singing the school's theme song (even 15 years later): *clap clap clap* "Hail to our mighty Tigers..." Watch the video to see the song optimized in American Sign Language

RIP with our spirits!
