Region II Representatives Richard McCowin and Jenny Buechner give a brief report of what's happening in Region II.
Video description and transcript:
Video begins with Richard and Jenny standing in front of an off-white wall. A small white NAD logo appears on the bottom right.
RICHARD and JENNY: Hi!
RICHARD: We've been having a great time here in Salt Lake City, Utah. We visited several schools which operated under the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind. I've really enjoyed learning and meeting the students here.
JENNY: Me too Richard. During the NAD Board meeting, we've discussed various topics -- one of which includes the upcoming NAD Conference this summer in Phoenix! The NAD Board has our sleeves rolled up and we're ready to go. Preparations are well underway -- for the NAD@Night events, Council of Representatives (COR) meetings, workshops, and so on. We can't wait to share the information with you! Keep an eye out for the conference website to be released soon.
RICHARD: Yep. Also, Jenny and I have been keeping a close eye on what's happening with our states within Region II. As you know, various legislative action is picking up now -- some issues that may come up include CDLs for deaf people, law enforcement training, language deprivation, and so on. We're both keeping an eye out. If you need support, please contact us. If you want legislative training, let us know.
JENNY: We look forward to the next few months, which is critical, to ensure the momentum keeps going. The next NAD Board meeting will be held in mid-April, in Philadelphia! At that meeting, we’ll be discussing status updates, plans for the months leading up to the Biennial Conference!
RICHARD: Keep an eye out for NAD Conference announcements from Link . There will be more information about the conference coming up! We’re excited!
