Donation to OAD by our Vice President Steven M. Brown

Hi there, everyone! My name is Steven Brown and I am the Oregon Association of the Deaf Vice President. I'm here now to take a brief moment to talk to you about donations.

I am very excited and anticipating Chad's inspiring vlog about the accomplishments of this past year. Really, we have done quite a lot in the past year. This would not have been possible without the current staff, our volunteers, and the members who have donated money as well. It's been very instrumental in helping us meet our goal of preserving and protecting civil rights all across Oregon.

I want to use this vlog to give a short explanation of why donations are so important to us here at OAD. Really, first of all you need to know that we are volunteers. We receive no pay for any of the work we do. That is wonderful and valued.

Secondly, you have certainly shown us that you really cherish, have been inspired by, and appreciate that we are trying to maintain our goal of protecting and preserving citizens’ rights for all Deaf, Deafblind, Deaf Plus, and Hard of Hearing people.

Donations come in lots of forms, including giving of your time to volunteer, getting involved in committees, group discussions, or offering feedback to the board. Those things are certainly welcome. You can also donate through giving food items, drinks, or anything that is supportive. This can include gifts for Christmas or any holiday, or anything you can think of.

Thirdly, money is still, as always, welcomed. Money is always useful because we have yearly performances, Deaf Fest which we have to reserve the venue for, we have gas and food expenditures, and paper and printing costs. We also hire trainers, like we did with the Legislature Leadership Training. We put on workshops, host movies, and have room rental fees for Deaf community events and get-togethers. We can accept cash, checks, and credit cards as well. Any type of payment is very helpful.

Anyway, we will be thrilled to see you around and work together with you, and we want to see your involvement as well. In addition to cash donations, we appreciate your volunteer work, your time, and your kind giving. All of this is welcomed.

Thank you for watching this vlog. Thank you and goodbye.
