Hanukkah (or Chanukah) starts at sunset Dec. 6, 2015 [25th of Kislev, 5776] and ends at sunset, Dec. 14, 2015 [3rd of Tevet, 5776]. It is not one of the Biblical feasts but, rather, traditional Jews and Netzari/ Messianic believers celebrate this holiday in remembrance of the victory of a small band of Jews over the occupying army of Syrian king Antiochus Epiphanes. Antiochus, who came to power in 175 B.C.E. forbade the Jews to practice their religion, and desecrated their Temple.

Yeshua haMashiyach: The Light of the World

John 1:1-5 The Word Becomes Flesh
1In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2He was with God in the beginning.
3All things were made through Him, and apart from Him nothing was made that has come into being.
4In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.

I am the light of the world. The one who follows Me will no longer walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (John 8:12 you can read all verses ok?)

1 John 1:1-7 God Manifested Word of Life
1What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life
2the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3What we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so you may have fellowship with us. Indeed, our fellowship is with the Father and His Son, Yeshua the Messiah.
4These things we write so our joy may be full.

God Light Dispels Darkness
5Now this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to youthat God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6If we say we have fellowship with Him and keep walking in the darkness, we are lying and do not practice the truth.
7But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of His Son Yeshua purifies us from all sin.


Matthew 5:14-16 TLV
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on a lampstand so it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
