Hello. I am Chad A. Ludwig. I’m President of Oregon Association of the Deaf. I would like to take a moment to share a couple of updates about Chestnut Lane. When I sign Chestnut Lane, it means Brookdale Chestnut Lane Gresham.

Chestnut Lane is an Assisted Living facility for the Deaf and Deaf-Blind. There has been some issues at this facility, we at OAD shared our concern with the management team about the operations at the Chestnut Lane that contribute harm to Deaf culture, identity, language, and having 100% access to effective communication and services.

We OAD present our concern. The Brookdale from Nashville, Tennessee where their headquarter is at as they will send several people to meet with us. The meeting will consist several Vice Presidents in specialized focus along with several people representing the community and OAD. We will sit together to discuss on Wednesday, November 18th from 9:30am to 11:30am at Brookdale Chestnut Lane Gresham. After we have this meeting, we will meet again on Friday, November 20th from 3pm to 5pm. We, OAD, will host Town Hall meeting and general public are more than welcome to attend including the residents from Chestnut Lane community. The Town Hall is very close to this facility, it will be easy for some resident to meet with us there. We will socialize, discuss about what we have learn so far, what we have accomplished so far, what we have come with term with agreement with Brookdale management team, what is the remaining issues that we, community, need to work on, and we will welcome the input from the community’s input and advise what OAD need to do next.

The location of town hall will be taken place in Gresham at

East Area Aging & Disability Services
Sharron – Kelly Conference Room A and B
600 NE 8th Street
Gresham, OR 97030

The conference room can hold up to 100 people and we will have plenty of room for you to attend.

Again, we will meet on Friday, November 20th from 3pm to 5pm and we will have a follow up Town Hall on Thursday, December 10th from 3pm to 5pm at this exact same location.

We, OAD, look forward having you to be apart of this process. If you have any question, how you can support or information to share, please feel free to contact by email at Link (link sends e-mail). One of our board members will respond to your inquiry.
