How do you sign the "National Association of the Deaf"? We're curious to see if anyone has a better way of signing the organization's name! Do you have an ASL sign idea to share with us? The winning sign will be announced at the NAD Leadership Training Conference (NLTC) in Birmingham, Alabama this September.
Video description and transcript:
Lizzie Sorkin, Director of Communications, appears in the NAD Headquarters lobby. A small white NAD logo appears on the bottom right.
LIZZIE: While we already use "NAD" as its own sign-name, some of you have started talking about coming up with a sign for the "National Association of the Deaf". Admittedly, how we sign it now is a little awkward because it isn't in true ASL form. Well, why don't we come up with a sign for the entire name? One person has suggested [signs National Association of the Deaf]. The NAD wants to open it up to you, the community, to share your idea of what should be the sign for the entire name! After you submit your idea, we will have a committee to review all submissions then we will turn it over to all NAD members to vote for the top choice! We'll no longer sign how we sign it now and will use the most voted choice that is in true ASL form. So, what's your idea?
